The great debate. Should I adopt
a kitten or an adult cat?
|
| KITTENS
ARE ADORABLE & CUTE BUT STOP
& THINK |
 |
Kittens |
 |
Adult cats |
| Kittens love
to play at 3:00 a.m. its often the perfect time
to run the Monaco Grand Prix, scale the Eiger & jump
all the Grand National fences. Also, human feet under
bed clothes are just the best fun!! |
Older cats enjoy a good nights sleep by their
humans side & are still willing to play with
you at times.
|
| Kittens are still developing
their personalities. Who knows, at such an early age,
if you have given a home to Posh, Baby, Sporty, Ginger
or even Scary Spice. All cats are different and it is
not only environment that will decide the personality
of your cat. |
Each cats personality
is unique and by adopting an older cat you know what personality
you are adopting. |
| A kitten is only a kitten
for a short time period. Kittens may mature into a totally
different looking adult from the cute kitten they were. |
Older cats have grown
into the size and shape that they are going to be. No
surprises. |
| Kittens are adorable,
but hard work, requiring a lot of time and patience for
at least a year. Caring for a kitten is a lot like caring
for a baby. Young kittens need almost constant supervision.
You have to safeguard their health - electrical cords,
knickknacks, household cleaners, drawers and other pets
can place a kitten's safety at risk. |
Older cats are very appreciative
that you have given them a home and will love you for
that. An adult cat is usually much calmer and less likely
to get into trouble. |
| Kittens require
more medical care & vaccinations as they are still
developing their immune systems. |
Older cats
have developed a good immune system. |
|
Kittens require neutering,
once they reach an appropriate age.
|
All our older cats are neutered.

OLDER CATS NEED A HOME & A SECOND CHANCE AT A DECENT
LIFE

People who should consider
adopting an older cat:-
|
| Elderly |
Senior citizens are often
unprepared for a kitten's energy level, most experts recommend
a calm adult or older cat
|
| Full
time workers |
If you plan
to leave a kitten home alone while you're working, it
may become lonely and destructive. It may never develop
into the friendly cat that most people desire. Very busy
people should consider adopting two cats to keep each
other company.
|
| Parents
with children under seven |
Young children
move quickly and like to hug pets. Kids can accidentally
hurt a small kitten, who might bite or scratch if it's
scared. An adult cat, on the other hand, is more likely
to tolerate children and less likely to be injured. Kittens
raised by young children often become skittish and less
affectionate. To be sure that you're bringing home a good-natured,
outgoing, friendly cat to be your child's companion for
the next 15 to 20 years, your better bet is an adult!
|
| Homes
with a well established older cat |
If you already
have an adult cat and are looking for a companion for
it, keep in mind that many older cats get annoyed and
overwhelmed by a kitten's high energy level. A cat that
is around the same age - or a little older - usually makes
for a much happier match. |
